BOTOX® is a simple, non-surgical treatment that can temporarily smooth wrinkles, especially lines between the eyebrows, worry lines located on the forehead, and crow's feet. BOTOX® is the only treatment of its type approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The procedure takes only a short time to perform and there is no down time. Consultations are FREE.

What is BOTOX®?
BOTOX® is a Botulinum toxin and was originally used for medical purposes and found to have cosmetic uses. As we age wrinkles are caused by sun damage, loss of subcutaneous fat, gravitational stretching, remodeling of boney structure/cartilage and muscles used for facial expression. Over time muscles used in facial expression cause wrinkling and BOTOX® is able to relax these muscles and improve wrinkles.

How does it work?
BOTOX® is injected directly into the muscles causing these wrinkles. It works by blocking the transmission of nerve impulses to the injected muscles; this reduces the activity of the muscles that cause those persistent lines to form.

How long does it last?
BOTOX® effects can last 3-5 months and may last longer with repeated injections. If you discontinue treatment, the lines gradually will look like they did before treatment.

Does BOTOX® hurt?
Discomfort is usually minimal and brief. Injections are done with tiny insulin needles. Prior to injecting you may choose to numb the area with a cold pack which we provide. The entire procedure takes approximately 10 minutes. Many people return directly to work or normal activity following BOTOX® treatment.

Are there side effects?
Most people experience no side effects. The most common side effects include headache, respiratory infection, flu syndrome, temporary eyelid droop, and nausea. Less frequently occurring (< 3%) adverse reactions include pain in the face, redness at the injection site, and muscle weakness. these events are thought to be associated with the injection and occurred within the first week.

Who shouldn't use BOTOX®?
BOTOX® should not be used in the presence of infection at the proposed injection site(s) and in individuals with known hypersensitivity to any ingredient in the formulation. Patients with neurological disorders such as ALS, Myasthenia Gravis or Lambert-Eaton syndrome may be at increased risk of serious side effects.

How much does it cost?
Botox® is charged by units used and each treatment is individualized. When comparing to Dysport® (another protein extracted from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum) remember that you need 2 to 2 1/2 times the Dysport® for the same treatment. Call for Botox® Day when Botox® is only $10 a unit.

Common treatment approximate number of units:

Crows Feet: 20 - 30 units
Forehead wrinkles: 20 - 40 units
Glabellar (between eyes): 20 - 30 units

Often the forehead lines should be treated with the glabellar lines to achieve a good result. Other common treatments are correcting asymmetric eyebrows, eyebrow lift or brow shaping. Less common uses are for sweating, headaches and horizontal mouth lines secondary to smoking.

Juvéderm is a new next generation cosmetic facial filler. Juvéderm is a smooth consistency gel made of hyaluronic acid — a naturally occurring substance in your skin that helps to add volume and hydration.
